You will now notice a small but important update when you create a new event in Conference Manager. You are asked to select an event category – for example course, conference, congress, or similar.
This change helps us provide a more personalised, efficient, and intuitive experience for you as an organiser.
Why are we introducing event categories?
Better personalisation
Understanding what kind of event you are creating allows Conference Manager to adapt content, guidance, and available actions to your specific context. A course, a conference, and a workshop follow different workflows, and the system will increasingly reflect those differences.
Smarter suggestions and automation
Event category information helps us identify what you are likely to need next. Over time, patterns in the types of events you create or attend will enable the system to offer more relevant suggestions – and reduce manual work.
A continuously improving user experience
By aggregating category data, we can better analyse which kinds of events are common, successful, or challenging. This allows us to refine interfaces, defaults, and flows so they become more intuitive for everyone
This is a small change now – but it lays the foundation for a smarter, more personalised Conference Manager experience in the future.
