What is reservation of choices during registration?

If your event includes limited options — such as seats, hotel rooms, workshops, or items under options — you can enable a reservation timer.
This ensures that participants keep their selected choices while completing the registration, even if many people are signing up at the same time.

A reservation timer ensures that participants’ selected items remain reserved while they complete their registration. Their choices stay locked until the timer expires, even when availability is limited and many people are registering at the same time.

Where to activate reservation of choices

You can activate the feature in the event settings:

Go to The event → Basic setup and click Edit under the Settings box. Scroll to Reservation of choices and select Yes to enable the feature.

What can be configured

When you select Yes for Reservation of choices during registration, two settings must be defined:

Reservation duration

Here you can choose how long participants’ selected items should remain reserved while they complete their registration.
You can choose between fixed time intervals (e.g. 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes).

How the timer should function

You can choose between:

Total time for registration
The timer counts down for the entire registration process and does not reset at any point.

Reset when selecting
The timer resets every time the participant makes a new selection under Options, Accommodations, Programme or Seats.

What participants will see

When the function is active:

  • Participants see a countdown timer on the registration page.
  • All selected items remain reserved until the timer runs out.
  • If participants complete their registration before the timer expires, their selections are guaranteed.
  • If the timer expires before they finish, the reservation is released and they will see a message informing them that they need to start the registration again.
