Why are my participants receiving an email with a verification code?

If two-factor protection is enabled on your event, a verification code is sent when someone tries to access a personal invitation or registration.

The code acts as an extra security step to ensure that only the correct person can gain access to the registration. Read more about two-factor protection here.

If a participant receives a verification code without having tried to access the link themselves, it is often because their personal invitation link has been forwarded to someone else. When that person opens the link, the code is automatically sent to the owner of the original invitation.

For security reasons, personal invitation links should not be shared.
If you want participants to be able to forward the invitation, you can instead share the public website address for the event’s registration page.

However, this requires that the website is publicly accessible and that the participant category is available without invitation. If registration requires an invitation, the person must be invited through the system – or you can use an event code to grant access. Read more about event codes here.
