Set up two-factor authentication with an authenticator app

To keep your account secure, Conference Manager uses two-factor authentication when there is a potential risk — for example, when logging in from a new IP address.

This means you will sometimes be asked to verify your identity using both your password and a second method, such as a text message or a code from an authenticator app.

Choose a verification method

When setting up your account in Conference Manager, you’ll be asked to choose a verification method:

  • SMS verification: You receive a code by text message.
  • Authenticator app: You use an app that generates a login code.

We recommend using an authenticator app.

What is an authenticator app?

An authenticator app is a free app for your phone that generates a 6-digit code. The code refreshes every 30 seconds and can be used to log in securely.

Once linked to your Conference Manager profile, the app works automatically in the background.

Why we recommend using an authenticator app

Authenticator apps are more secure and more reliable than SMS. Here’s why:

  • No delays: SMS codes may be delayed due to network issues. Authenticator apps generate the code instantly.
  • Offline access: The app works without internet or signal once set up.
  • Stronger protection: Authenticator apps are less vulnerable to interception, SIM card fraud, or number porting attacks.
  • Convenience: Authenticator apps can manage codes for multiple accounts, so you can use the same app for other platforms you log into.

Our recommendations

There are several authenticator apps. We recommend:
